With Windows 7 approaching the end of support deadline (January 2020), it’s time to get cracking on upgrading your organisation to Windows 10. Here are some things to consider:
– Hardware: You may also need to upgrade your hardware. Microsoft’s published requirements for Windows 10 are far too low for a smooth experience. We recommend a minimum of a dual core processor, 4 to 8GB RAM, and a solid state disk. Below this spec will be sluggish.
– Release version – Home / Pro. Home version doesn’t include build-in encryption (Bitlocker) so my advice is that the Pro version is the way to go.
– Application compatibility – Check that the versions of software you wish to run are compatible with Windows 10. If you are running legacy versions of industry specific software you might run into trouble. It’s best to check with the software provider.
– User Training – Whilst somewhat similar to Windows 7, the jump to Windows 10 will take some user training for some. We find 20 minutes of training is enough to get a user up and going.
For those users who moved to Windows 8 and moved straight back again (!) – Windows 10 is what Windows 8 should have been. It is faster, more intuitive, secure and customisable.
